BHOPAL: Corporator's election in ward No 8 is proving to be a rerun of assembly elections. Bhopal north MLA Arif Aqueel's brother, Amir is pitted against BJP leader Arif Beg's son Nurul Hasan Beg. Arif had lost 2013 assembly elections from Bhopal north to Arif Aqueel.
The multi-cornered fight among the kin of Muslim political heavyweights, has become more interesting as younger brother of MP Congress Committee - minority cell chairman Mohammed Saleem's brother Mohammed Zaheer, who revolted from Congress, is in fray as independent candidate while Arif Ali Khan, grandson of late Khan Shakir Ali Khan, Communist leader, who was popularly known as Sher-e-Bhopal is also trying his electoral fortunes from this ward as an independent.

With polls scheduled on January 31, a total outsider and independent candidate Mohammed Saud is giving the bigwigs a run for their money. Political observers said young Saud's campaign has gained momentum and could prove a dark horse.
Saud on Thursday alleged in a complaint at Koh-e-Fiza police station that Congress candidate Amir Aqueel had roughed him and his supporters and threatened him to withdraw from fray. Amir's banking on his brother's political exploits and prowess to win.
