Small Japanese brewer sells directly to Hong Kong, Taiwan

FUKUI, Japan -- Genpei Syuzo, a sake maker in Japan's western Fukui Prefecture, is selling directly to Hong Kong and Taiwan, a rare move for a Japanese brewery that usually uses agents to sell overseas.

The brewer aims to achieve overseas sales of 200 million yen ($1.68 million) in the next year or two through targeting luxury hotels and restaurants in neighboring economies.
