For degree-final year student R. Kanakadurga, it’s a dream to get a job in a multinational company. Till recently, she was worried about her future after completion of graduation but all her fears vanished after she got a placement in a leading company.
“I can now assist my parents financially,” an elated Kanakadurga, a B.Sc student, said. Final-year B.A. student Nithya Radhakrishna too is excited after getting job as a technical writer. “As I hail from a middle-class family, I am confused on how to pursue higher studies due to financial constraints. With a decent salary, I can continue my studies through distance education mode while doing the job,” she said.
Like Kanakadurga and Nithya, several students were thrilled after getting placements in different IT and ITes companies during the campus placement drive that was on in different colleges in the city. Some students got jobs in IT companies while others secured placements in BPO companies. As many as 125 students of Andhra Loyola College were selected in campus recruitments.
Of them, 95 got offer letters and others were waiting for the response from the companies, claimed College Placement Cell Coordinator T. Srikumar. He claimed that 95 students secured jobs in 2014 against 90 in 2013 during campus interviews.
“Students will be joining their duties after completion of their exams,” he said. Sri Durga Malleswara Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala Principal T. Vijaya Lakshmi said over 57 degree students were selected in a placement drive conducted by a Bangalore-based private firm.
“Our students will be getting jobs in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu shortly,” she added.
