The public representatives from across the district complained to the officials that many of the beneficiaries who got their individual sanitary latrines (ISL) constructed in the past more than three years ago are yet to receive their bills. They said that it was very difficult to motivate people unless old bills were cleared.
Collector Rahul Bojja held a video conference with mandal parishat development officers (MPDOs) and public representatives, from Collectorate on Saturday on Harita Haram, ISLs, pensions and swine flu. While urging the public representatives to cooperate in achieving 100 ISLs in villages, the officials said that those registered for ISLs will get Rs. 12,000 for the construction and the amount would be released by the Rural Water Supply (RWS) directly to the beneficiary account. When a public representative pointed out there was no sufficient place at some houses to construct ISLs, the officials said that they were ready to allocate amount for community toilet provided place was earmarked.
A sarpanch from Narayanakhed area suggested allocating responsibility of growing the saplings under Harita Haram programme to each pensioner.
