Portals of the Himalayan shrine of Badrinath, which is dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu, will open on April 26, this year.

Ganesh Godiyal, president of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee said: “The portals of the Badrinath shrine will be opened on April 26 at 5-15 a.m.”

“According to the Badrinath Temple Committee Act, every year the date of reopening the shrine for pilgrims is decided on the occasion of Vasant Panchmi at Narendranagar in Tehri. The priests decide on the date and the Tehri Maharaja announces the date,” Mr. Godiyal said.

The portals of the shrine were closed for the winter months on November 27, last year, and the idol of the Badrinath shrine was moved to Pandukeshwar for the winter months.
