Gujarat Governor, CM attend 1st convocation function of Kamdhenu University

Gujarat Governor Mr. O. P. Kohli today, in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Mrs. Anandiben Patel, chaired the 1st convocation function of the Kamdhenu University held here.

Speaking at the function, Mrs. Patel announced that the state government has allocated necessary land to the university near Bavla town and has also issued orders for the construction of the university Bhawan.

The Governor urged the experts and students to make efforts to bring improvement, on the line of Brazil, in the milk production from the animals and to keep them diseases free.

To passing out students, Mr. Kohli also urged to strike a balance between adoption of today’s professionalism and traditional Indian social culture.

He said, the increase of produces by animals would enhance the national income. Agriculture-animal husbandry is an important aspect of the Indian economy. Gujarat Government has adopted a positive approach in the animal husbandry. Gujarat is the leader in the White Revolution and the state government has done a noticeable contribution towards it.

Congratulating to the passed out student, Mrs. Patel said, the state government would take all necessary attempts to make the Kamdhenu University as the university possessing with all the latest technologies.

The Chief Minister appealed to make efforts to keep the animals healthy and diseases-free as then they can make better breeding and development. Once up on a time, as many as nearly 150 kinds of diseases were prevailing among the animals. But, owing to better vaccinations and care, now the number of diseases has been decreased to 120. Various districts have been allocated nearly 17 vehicles for providing medical facilities to the animals at the village level.

In the convocation function, 35 students were awarded B. Tech (D.T.) degree and 22 students were given diploma degree in veterinary science and animal husbandry. The gold medalist winners are Mr. Daya J. Mungda, Miss Vidhi Arvindkumar Bhagat (both in Dairy), and Mr. Yash Mukundbhai Chauhan (veterinary science and animal husbandry).

Those who spoke on the occasion included, Gujarat Agriculture Minister Mr. Babubhai Bokhiriya, Prof. M. C. Varshney, vice-chancellor of Kamdhenu University, and others.
