LUDHIANA: Whenever a long weekend approaches, travel crazy people in the city are always on their toes to plan a trip.
With Republic day falling on Monday, the first long weekend is around the corner. However, for a change, people are not busy planning trips, instead they are buys attending weddings or getting rid of the wedding hangover.
Talking about her plans, Dhruvika Gupta, resident of Aggar Nagar, said: "I am just back from attending a destination wedding in Jaipur and will be off to Gurgoan soon to attend another wedding.
Since, I have three family weddings to attend this wedding heavy season, I will save the long weekend to just sit back and relax a little."
Vinsara Kapoor, resident of Badewal road, said: "We generally go for dinner kitties, but I am just not able to plan a dinner kitty as everyone is busy attending weddings. Now, we will plan for our kitty once everyone is out of wedding fever, so that nobody misses the fun."
Shweta Malhotra, another resident of the city, said the long weekend is just to attend big fat weddings. "I have seven weddings to attend during this long weekend and with the dipping mercury, I wonder how am I going to cope up with the wedding season," she said.
Travel agencies, too, are feeling a lean patch. Rajeev Aggarwal, who runs a travel agency in the city, said: "Ludhiana is just so busy attending weddings, there is no rush in our sector for a while. We are expecting the market to pick up once the wedding season is over."
