Biju charges delaying ing bar bribery case: AG

KOCHI: Advocate general K P Dandapani on Friday told the Kerala high court that the vigilance probe into bar bribery is getting delayed due to the serial revelations made by Bar Hotel Owners Association working president Biju Ramesh.
The AG's submission was during the hearing on a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by RSP (B) leader A V Thamarakshan seeking a CBI probe into the alleged bribery involving finance minister K M Mani.
The case is being heard by a division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Ashok Bhushan and justice A M Shaffique.
The AG said although the vigilance probe is based on charges made by Biju, he is coming up with new revelations and evidence on a daily basis. The investigation team has to analyse new evidence, including the audio clips submitted by Biju. The vigilance team has so far questioned 10 witnesses. He said no investigating officer has been changed and added that the government only recommended for the promotion of an ADGP (Jacob Thomas) as per the routine procedure. The AG opposed the plea for CBI probe and said the government has no intention to subvert the ongoing vigilance investigation.
