Private service planned for iconic shoe designer Vince Camuto

A Private service for iconic women’s shoe designer Vince Camuto will be held in Greenwich, Conn., on Tuesday.

Camuto died of cancer at his Greenwich home last Wednesday at the age of 78. The beloved designer was best known for founding Nine West in 1978 with business partner Jerome Fisher.

After selling the company in 1999 for $900 million, Camuto went on to make shoes and apparel under his own Camuto Group for brands including BCBGMAXAZRIA, Tory Burch and Jessica Simpson, who called Camuto a “mentor” and “the creator of all my dreams” in an Instagram post on Wednesday.

She added, “I will forever walk in your shoes.”

Camuto is survived by his wife, Louise, and five children.
