The Transport Department has started an online test for those seeking a learner’s licence (LL).
Minister for Transport Ramalinga Reddy inaugurated the online system in the city on Friday. It is part of the department’s project to computerise its services, network all offices and extend online services throughout the State in a phased manner.
The test is called Screen Test Aid for Learner’s Licence (STALL). It is in Kannada and English. Applicants are expected to answer 15 questions in 15 minutes. They pertain to mandatory, cautionary, information signages and questions on the Motor Vehicles Act and Rules. Even unlettered people can take the online test because the questions will have an audio option. Answering 10 questions correctly is enough to pass the test and get the LL on the spot.
The online test will be offered at the Regional Transport Office in Electronic City and K.R. Puram. Later, it will be extended to other offices in Bengaluru.
However, till officials are satisfied that the online test is functioning satisfactorily, applicants will also have to take the existing oral test.
