A former caregiver who pleaded guilty for abusing patients at a seniors’ home will face a 15-month sentence.

Immacula Eugene, 52, was arrested in 2013 after several cases of abuse came to light at the Saint-Lambert-sur-le-Golf senior's residence. Eugene and her accomplice Marie-Margaret Pétimé were both accused of drugging a patient with stolen medication.

In the case of Eugene, she faced additional accusations for assaulting patients. In one case she spat at a senior and in another incident she hit a patient with a pillow, which was caught on hidden camera installed by the patient’s family who was becoming worried about their relative.

The judge will render her decision on the sentencing suggestion on February 4.

Pétimé had already received a 15-month suspended sentence, to be served in the community.
