In an effort to etch his name in record books, an eight-year-old boy created a painting of Shirdi Sai Baba using puja material as colours on Wednesday.
Singamsetty Vignesh Anjan, a product of Srusti Art Academy, drew a pencil sketch of the spiritual guru on a 3 x 6 feet canvas in just 15 minutes in the presence of his admirers at the Open Air Theatre in the Santhapeta Sai Baba temple here. In his own inimitable style, the boy used ‘vibuthi’ (sacred ash), ‘kumkum’ (vermilion), sandalwood paste, rice flour and incense sticks to get the right combination of colours for his work. Then he applied the colours in a pattern to create a painting of Sai Baba in a sitting posture in just 5-1/2 hours, winning the appreciation from connoisseurs of art as well as laymen.
Mr. Thimmiri Raveendra, a jury member of Miracles World Records said that it was a record. None had tried pooja material for colouring such a big painting, he added.
The boy, a class III student at Apex Techno School here developed an interest for drawing and painting early and joined the art school in 2012. The boy, a regular participant in state and national level competitions, has to his credit a good collection of paintings. A thumb painting of noted artist Bapu was the cynosure of all eyes at the exhibition organised on the occasion. “We will make Vignesh an accomplished painter,” his mother S. Jagedeswari said.
