SURAT: A 12-year-old boy hanged himself at his house in Bamroli area of the city on Wednesday night. The class VI student was upset after his father scolded him for not getting his hair trimmed.
Saurabh Sonavane, a resident of Lakshmi Nagar, was declared brought dead to New Civil Hospital. He was found hanging in his room by a rope from the ceiling by his father Rajubhai.

Saurabh had used a stool to tie the rope to the ceiling. His family told police that Saurabh may have learnt it from the movies.
Police investigation revealed Rajubhai had asked Saurabh to get his hair cut the next day without fail when he returned from school. He was found hanging in his room after a couple of hours.
“Family members said Saurabh was told several times in the last few days to get his hair trimmed. His father scolded him on Wednesday evening over this again. Saurabh was upset and ended his life. He used a skipping rope to hang himself,” said Mahendra Gamit, investigating officer at Pandesara police station.
Gamit said, “The boy’s family claimed that he was an average student and that there was no pressure on him with regard to studies. So far, no other reason has come to light for the boy to commit suicide.”
