Hit at mid-wicket The bird, sitting near the mid-wicket region, during the Melbourne Stars vs Perth Scorchers T20 encounter, was struck by the ball off a full-blooded pull shot by by Perth Scorchers batsman Adam Voges.

Melbourne Stars outfielder fielder Rob Quiney, who was close to the two-legged creature, feared the worst for the bird and even signalled the same as the hurt bird lay motionless on the ground. Quiney however moved towards the bird and gently carried it across the boundary rope and kept it on the ground.

However, a few moments later, supposedly regained consciousness and began strolling across the boundary line one again. The Melbourne crowd was obviously delighted to see the animal back on its feet. However, the birdie was not done yet.

The bird was then seen trying to peck at Quiney's ankle obviously not knowing his was the hand that had just saved it. The Melbourne crowd and even the TV commentators were amused, while social media went about spreading the word about the bird.

"That seagull is in a battle with Marsh & Klinger for man-of-the-match at the moment," read one tweet. Another funny one went: "The miracle at the G'! Rob Quiney is the Seagull whisperer"
