Tal Education Group (XRS) reported fiscal Q3 EPS of 18 cents, unchanged from a year ago, beating by a penny. Sales climbed 35% to $99.4 mil, topping views for $97.8 mil amid expanded tutoring services. During Q3 Tal bought a minority interest in Guokr, a China mobile and Web-based education service. Tal shares rose 6.7% to 29.33. Rival New Oriental Education & Technology (EDU) on Tue. reported revenue that beat estimates, but 2-cent EPS was down from 3 cents, and 5 cents below views. Shares fell 2% to 19.17.
