GURGAON: Vacant plots in Sector 29 have all been cleared of wild bushes in the last one week by HUDA, in a joint operation with the city police, officials said on Thursday. Resident had complained that miscreants used these plots as hiding places and that had become a security concern for them.
According to the officials, at least 15 acres of land were cleared of wild bushes, following complaints by the residents of Sushant Lok to the HUDA.
"There was no fencing or lighting on these plots. The bushes would further obstruct the visibility in the dark so it was necessary to clear the plots," said Rajesh Kumar, ACP (crime). Residents say the bushes on the vacant plots gave a perfect hiding place to miscreants. "I have seen men running into the bushes during the night. We were concerned about the security," said Naresh Puri, a 60-year-old resident of Sushant Lok B block.
"Every month, I used to call police at least 10 times informing them about such activities. But, by the time the cops arrived, the miscreants would hide," said Sundar Singh, a 47-year-old businessman.
