After Mauni Amavasya snan, thousands of saints and seers from across the country, including Haridwar, Varanasi, Mathura, Mirzapur and other places, are once again converging on mela campus to perform Panchagni Dhuni on Basant Panchami in the ongoing Magh Mela.
The saints and seers would stay on the banks of Ganga and perform various rituals. “We perform Panchagni Dhuni every year as it is believed that performing the ritual brings good results.” On Thursday, thousands of devotees and pilgrims, who had arrived for Mauni Amavasya bath, were seen heading back home after two to three day stay at the banks of Ganga.
With majority of devotees already headed home, thousands of kalpwasis, saints and seers are left on the banks. Most of the saints and seers too would hit the road back to their ashrams after the Basant Panchami puja
Through out the day, devotees thronged camps of eminent saints and seers to seek blessing before heading home. “I came from Kolkata to seek guru’s blessings,” said Rupa Roy adding, I will stay at my guru’s camp and take a holy dip on Basant Panchami on Saturday.
Local and nearby pilgrims are also visiting the camp of seers and saints to seek their blessings.
