Thane's women bikers campaign for road safety
Passionate about road safety, women bike and scooter riders took to Thane’s streets recently in a bid to create awareness about its importance.
“This was a part of the 26th Road Safety Week by Thane’s Traffic Police and the Regional Transport Office (RTO). The Women’s Bike Rally was supported by one of the popular malls in the city,” said a spokesperson for the event.

Carl Gawli, a Thane-based biker from the Night Wolf Riders Club said, “The rally had around 30 women two-wheeler riders that included super bikes, bullets, bikes and scooty. There were 20 male bikers who were the marshals for this event and went along with the procession. There were also other biking clubs from Thane, including the Bikers United.”
The road safety week had numerous events and some had celebrities grace the occasions. Actress Isha Koppikar, actor Shadab Khan and the Joint Commissioner of Police VV Laxminarayan, were present at the Dadoji Konddev Stadium to give away prizes to students who participated in the drawing competition with road safety as its theme. Earlier in the traffic week, stand-up comic and actor Johnny Lever chaired an event to create awareness about traffic safety guidelines and gave away roses. Apart from this, various schools also actively participated to spread more awareness about road safety.
