Kashi performs yajna for Modi-Obama friendship

VARANASI: Now, it is time to apply the energy of sacred ‘mantras’ from ancient vedic texts to strengthen the bond between the US President Barrack Obama and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to work together forcefully for complete abolition of terrorism from the planet. And, the mantra-power is being applied from Modi’s new political home – his constituency Varanasi.
Ahead of the visit of Obama to India the temple town witnessed ‘Modi-Obama Maitri Mahayajna’ for the eradication of terrorism. Organised at Assi Ghat, the very place where Modi had taken spade in his hands to launch Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan in November, the rituals of yagna were performed by sadhus and dandiswamis on Thursday with a belief that the energy of holy ‘mantra’, which is superior to the energy of ‘yantra’ and ‘tantra’, can strengthen the bond between India and the US to abolish terrorism.
They believe that the sound and vibration of powerful mantras in the atmosphere could cause a positive impact on minds during the visit of Obama to India. “While performing yajna, we chanted the most powerful mantras taken from our four vedas to generate energy for fighting against terrorism collectively,” said Virat Guru Bade Sarkar Swami Paramhansh of Ganga Math, who led the yajna jointly organised by the Ganga Cell of Bharatiya Janata Party.
Sitting around a ‘havan kund’ on the bank of Ganga, a group of dandi swamis and vedic students were chanting vedic mantras and offering ‘ahuti’ at the steps of Assi Ghat. It was also a curious sight for the tourists and other visitors to the ghat. “I wonder and don’t know what impact of this ritual would have, but it look amazing,” remarked a foreign tourist wandering at the ghat.
But, Swami firmly believes in power of mantra. He said that the sacred utterances or chanting of mantras provide one with the power to attain one’s goals and lift from the ordinary to the higher level of consciousness. The mantras give the power to ward off evils. The sound that is said to have its origins at the time of the creation of the cosmos - also referred to as the 'Big Bang'.
“In all three sources of energy –‘tantra’ (black magic), ‘mantra’ (sacred hymn) and ‘yantra’ (mechanical tools), the mantra is superior to the two others,” explained Swami adding that the recitation of mantras can not only bring transformation in one while leading to power and strength but also eliminate all types of evil.
The convener of BJP’s Ganga Cell unit Dr. Mangal Datta Dwivedi said that such type of rituals would also be organised on regular basis for the peace of mankind and to elevate India as ‘Vishwa Guru’.
