~More than 50 people participate in the drive~
~Over 1,000 kilograms of waste was collected, 40% of which is recyclable~

Tata Power, India's largest integrated power pany, has always been at the forefront of driving various sustainability initiatives aimed at resource conservation and relentlessly spreading awareness to facilitate a greener world. Upholding with this mitment, Tata Power's Tiruldih division organized a cleanliness drive at Ashok Nagar, Ranchi in line with Shri Narendra Modi's national level campaign, 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'.

The objective of this initiative was to impress the significance of a clean environment as well as inculcate a sense of consciousness and responsibility in the local munity towards natural resources. More than 50 team members, housekeeping crew, officials from Krishna Enterprise (Trust) and Ranchi Municipal Corporation actively participated in the drive. More than 1,000 kilograms of waste was collected during the course of the activity. Participants of the drive also counseled the shopkeepers, footpath traders, fruit and vegetable sellers, salon owners and poachers on the right methods of handling and disposing waste.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. D. Santra, Head - Tiruldih Project said, "Tata Power firmly believes that cleanliness is next to godliness and that it is our social responsibility to maintain the hygiene of the premises in which we operate. We must also go beyond the call of duty and take the responsibility to educate neighbors about the importance of cleanliness. Through this small initiative, Tata Power hopes to energize the munity and spark encouragement for the Clean India Mission".

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission) is a national level campaign by the Government of India, covering 4,041 statutory towns to clean the streets, roads and infrastructure of the country. The nation-wide campaign was officially launched on October 2, 2014 at Rajghat, New Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself cleaned a road. The campaign is India's biggest ever cleanliness drive.

CGPL received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Sarpanch of Nani Khakhar village for their dedicated work on all round village development, especially for programs related to fodder distribution, RO plant and solar light installations, Shiksha Sarathi program, organising of events such as Urja Divas and Swachtha Mission etc.
