ALAPPUZHA: Roy Abraham (44) of Kuttamperoor in Mannar in Alappuzha district was shot dead by dacoits in Kenya in the early hours of Wednesday.
Roy, who had been living in Kenya for the past 10 years, was the in charge of a wheat farm which is five hours away from Nairobi, the capital of the African country. He was shot dead when he tried to prevent the dacoits from looting the farm.
The news of Roy's death was conveyed to his family here on Wednesday morning by his sister who is also working in Kenya, said Mannar ward member K Madhu. "Roy is survived by his mother Thankamma, wife Reena and daughter Riya, a fifth standard student. His mother and family live in Mannar. His sister informed us that the legal and medical formalities in the case will be completed on Thursday. We expect his body to reach here by Saturday," said Madhu.
Roy had visited Mannar to attend the funeral of his father Abraham in March last year. He had left for Kenya in April.
