It was a birthday to remember for Swami Vivekanand (Borivli) captain Rahul Kesari as he scored his first double ton against Chatrabhuj Narsee Memorial School (Vile Parle) on Day Two of the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) Giles Shield boys U-14 Elite Division match at Cross Maidan yesterday.

Resuming on 131, Rahul went on to make 276. His 313-ball knock was laced with 32 boundaries and he shared a 359-run stand with Gautam Waghela (172 not out).

The Borivli school declared their innings at 519-3 before Chatrabhuj Narsee were reeling on 125-5 at stumps in the second essay, still 209 runs behind Swami Vivekanand.

"I am glad to score my first double ton on my 14th birthday, but it hurt when I got out just 24 runs short of 300. Nonetheless, this is my best birthday ever. I wasn't bothered how many runs I have scored when I was on the field, but once I got out, it hit me hard," lamented Rahul.

He added that the aim now is get the opposition out and register an outright win. "There was a plan to declare once I completed my triple ton, but since I got out before scoring 300, we declared at 519. Now, we just want to get the opposition out and register an outright win with a bonus point."

Meanwhile, Aaryan Sen (142) and Aayush Shirke (120) helped Hansraj Morarji score 371-7 against Our Lady of Remedy (Kandivli). The Kandivli school were bowled out for 94 in the first innings.
