Over 200 participants presented their creativity in myriad colours at the rangoli competition organised at AU Gymnasium Grounds on Wednesday as part of the VUDA Visakha Utsav. Organised in association with the Rotary and the Rotaract clubs of Visakhapatnam, the competition was held in three categories — women below and above 18 years and an exclusive category for men. Floral designs with the theme of Visakha Utsav were the highlights of the competition.

Prizes worth Rs. 10,000 were given away by members of the Rotary Club to the winners. The first three prizes in the below 18 years category went to G. Neelima, V.J. Likitha, and M. Sunaina Rao. In the above 18 years category, A. Saroja, R. Mercy, and M. Lavanya were adjudged the first three winners.

In the men’s category, B. Devi Prasad, Prabhakar Rao, and R. Ganesh won the first, second, and third prizes respectively. MLA of Visakhapatnam East Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu, VUDA Secretary GC Kishore Kumar and Rotarians Jija Valsaraj, M. Ramjee, and P.L.K. Murthy gave away the prizes to the winners. To spread the exuberant spirit of the Visakha Utsav among the youth, a kite festival will be organised from 3 p.m. opposite Hotel Novotel on Thursday. Laser Show will be held from 6 p.m. atop Kailasagiri on Thursday.
