Stage set for Urs-E-Shareef

The stage is set for three-day annul Urs-E-Shareef festival of Hazrath Jaanpak Shaheed Dargah at Janpahad of Nereducherla mandal in Nalgonda district, which will commence on Thursday. The people belongs to different faiths, particularly a huge number of Hindus will be coming to the dargah during the Urs.

The dargah is known for epitome of communal harmony since people practicing all the religious faiths visits the place . The three-day festivities would commence with Ghusul Sahreef (cleaning the tomb of Hazrath Jaanpak Shaheed with rose water) at around 3 a.m. on Thursday.

According to legend, Janapak Saheed, a Muslim preacher and his disciples had attained martyrdom fighting a local ruler at this place some 400 years. Since then, the locals have been celebrating the Urs festival every year in his memory.

Sandal procession

Three will be famous Sandal procession on Friday which the Wakf Board sends from Hyderabad. The sandal will be taken out on procession on a horse in a religious ceremnoy in which over one lakh people takes part.

The Urs concludes on Saturday following a Deeparadhonothsavam. Meanwhile, the local Wakf Board officials in coordination with all the departments have made all arrangements for visiting pilgrims. The APSRTC will be operating special buses to the dargah from Nereducherla, Miryalaguda, Damarcherla and other places.

There was 400-year-old auspicious well in Janapahad. The pilgrims believes that they would be cured from all the diseases after drinking the water.
