Police arrest seven in shepherd’s death case

The Karimnagar rural police have unravelled the mystery behind the suspicious death of a shepherd and stealing of his sheep,

with the arrest of seven persons and seizure of 70 sheep worth Rs 2.5 lakh, a van, motorcycle, a knife and a huge stick from their possession.

Disclosing this to newsmen here on Wednesday, Karimnagar DSP J Rama Rao said that the shepherd S Komuraiah (60) was found dead at LMD reservoir near Chintakunta village on January 14. Following a complaint, the police launched the investigation and arrested seven persons on Wednesday morning when they were shifting the sheep in a van at the Malkapur village. During interrogation, the accused confessed to have killing the shepherd and robbing 80 sheep. The arrested include; Md Sadiq (21), Syed Khadeer (19), Md Tajuddin ((20), Md Saleem (21), D Komuraiah (55), Md Mahaboob (55) and K Raju Madhava Rao (30). The DSP said that the accused had beaten to death the shepherd and stolen his sheep and kept at the Elgandal fort area and later sold 10 sheep. Rural CI B Narender SI L Srinu were also present.
