State Ministers P. Palaniappan (Higher Education) and V. Senthil Balaji (Transport) handed over relief to the tune of Rs. 4.75 lakh to the ten persons who suffered serious injuries in the Hogennakkal bus accident and are undergoing treatment here.
While eight persons have been admitted to the Government Super Speciality Hospital, the rest have been admitted to two private hospitals in the city.
The Ministers, accompanied by K. Vivekananda, Dharmapuri Collector, visited all the three hospitals and handed over relief from the Chief Minister’s General Relief Fund to the relatives of the injured persons.
While cheques of Rs. 50,000 were handed over to nine who suffered serious injuries, Rs. 25,000 was given to another person who suffered simple injuries.
The Ministers made enquiries with the doctors about the treatment being given to the injured.
The MPs and MLAs from both Salem and Dharmapuri districts accompanied the Ministers.
Mr. Palaniappan visited the injured at the Super Speciality Hospital on Tuesday night too.

Solatium to the tune of Rs.3 lakh was disbursed to families of the deceased in the bus accident.
On Tuesday night, PMK leader and the MP of Dharmapuri Anbumani Ramadoss alleged that substandard buses were the reason for such major accidents.
The PMK has alleged that in this case, the bus was way past its utility, and was brought from Pudukottai beyond its utility period.
According to Dr.Ramadoss, these buses should not be allowed to operate beyond a few years.
Compensation
The PMK leader demanded a compensation of Rs.10 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs.5 lakh each to the injured.
