Pune: The civic administration razed illegal structures spread over 14,000 sq ft on Wednesday, said a statement issued by the Pune Municipal Corporation.
“The action was taken in and around Satara Road, Bibvewadi, Shivajinagar and F C Road areas. Officials razed both residential and commercial properties,” it stated.
According to the civic body, notices were issued to owners of these properties, asking them to remove the constructions, but they failed to do so.
This prompted the administration to demolish the buildings.
Officials said PMC has acted against over 3,300 illegal constructions in the last one year. Illegal sheds and houses built with concrete on 22.5 lakh sq ft in the slum pockets of Shivajinagar, Kasba Peth, Wadgaonsheri, Ambegaon, Kothrud, Katraj, NIBM Road and Pashan were demolished.
The administration has also demolished encroachments in shopping malls at Vishrantwadi, Kothrud and Satara Road areas. The civic administration has also carried out a special drive against encroachments on nullahs, roads and footpaths.
Further, multi-storeyed apartments, illegal roller-compacted concrete (RCC) constructions and illegal offices of political parties have also been acted against.
