AAP replaces ‘tainted’ Mundka, Mehrauli candidates at last minute

Elaborating on the reasons behind replacing the Mundka candidate, the AAP source said, “Rajendra Dabas had not informed the party about a case relating to land acquisition filed against him.”

Local volunteers, on the other hand, had alleged that Dabas’s name had come up in an abetment to suicide case dating back to December 2012. The case was purportedly registered in Kanjhawala police station.

“The victim committed suicide at Dabas’ house in Ghevra village. He named Dabas in his suicide note saying he had threatened to implicate him in a case. Police are still investigating the grounds for the alleged blackmailing,” a local Mundka volunteer said.

The party, however, maintained that Dabas had informed it about this abetment to suicide case earlier.

So far, the party has dropped three candidates from the Delhi Assembly list.

Earlier this month, the party had replaced its Wazirpur candidate Suresh Bhardwaj — after he went back to the BJP — with local AAP leader Rajesh Gupta.
