Brown-Forman Extends Woodford Reserve Into Rye

Thriving Bourbon brand Woodford Reserve is set to add a new rye offering to its portfolio next month. Woodford Reserve Rye ($38 a 750-ml.) will initially launch in 15 U.S. markets. The Kentucky straight rye whiskey is 45.2% abv and marks the third permanent extension to the Woodford Reserve portfolio, joining Distiller’s Select and Double Oaked. Brown-Forman’s newcomer will compete with Beam Suntory’s Knob Creek Rye, which debuted in 2012 and retails in the same segment. Woodford Reserve earned its first Impact “Hot Brand” award last year, having grown by more than 75% since 2010.
