CHINSURAH: Wanted for several murders and some 100-odd extortion cases in the district, Toton surrendered before Chandernagore subdivisional court on Wednesday.
Feared across Hooghly, Toton recently hit the headlines for his alleged involvement in the Christmas day gang war outside Hooghly station and Bandel church area that scared picnickers.
Toton was remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.

Toton’s name was synonymous with terror from Chinsurah’s Rabindranagar to Milon Cinema in Hooghly. He initially formed a gang with 42 henchmen who went around on motorbikes with guns. The gang extorted money mainly from businessmen and passers-by.
Hooghly SP Sunil Chowdhury said, “Cops conducted raids in search of Toton who realized he was facing the heat and surrendered.”
