Restaurant honours Groupon vouchers once again as payment issue resolved

A Dublin restaurant which recently paused its Groupon offer due to an issue over payment has said it is now honouring all vouchers again.

David Wang, Director of Ichiman Japanese and Thai restaurant on Lower Liffey Street, said his restaurant started accepting the Groupon deal for sushi today.

Over 1,215 vouchers were sold in November for the deal which offered customers 22 pieces of sushi and two bottles of beer, or two glasses of wine for €14 - or a similar deal for four people for €28.

This week, Mr Wang claimed he was forced to put the offer on hold because his restaurant had not been paid by Groupon.

A notice was placed in the window of Ichiman to explain that the vouchers could not be honoured.

Today, however, Groupon confirmed to independent.ie that the problem was rectified.

“There was an issue relating to bank details that was stopping payments from being made,” a spokesperson said.

“Working closely with the merchant, we’ve now resolved this issue and paid the merchant.”

“Customers who bought a voucher for the restaurant can still redeem them as stated in the deal.”

Mr Wang confirmed to independent.ie that he received payment  this morning.
