The updated Mahindra Quanto will get a host of mechanical upgrades coming from the Xylo MPV along with changes to the aesthetics.

Mahindra will introduce the AMT gearbox on the Quanto with the updated version

Having done miserably in the compact SUV segment, Mahindra has been working on an updated version of its Quanto SUV with aesthetic as well as mechanical changes. Starting with the exteriors, the updated Quanto will see mildly revised headlights, reworked grille and bumpers; while there will also be new alloy wheels on offer for the higher variants. On the inside, the compact SUV is expected to sport new beige coloured dashboard and upholstery for a premium appeal, while the audio system will be updated with Bluetooth connectivity and voice command activation. The seats will also get better lumbar support and cushioning over the current model.

While aesthetic updates are plenty, Mahindra is working on major upgrades to the suspension set-up for better stability. Trickled down from the recently revised Xylo, the updated Quanto will get a revised suspension and addition of extra bushes and a rear stability bar. The Quanto was heavily criticised for the extensive body roll and unstable ride quality that will see a major difference with the tweaked suspension. Mahindra could finally bring in the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) unit on the Quanto that was showcased at the Auto Expo last year with the updated version.

In terms of powertrain, the 2015 Mahindra Quanto will continue with the same 1.5-litre 3-cylinder diesel engine tuned to produce 100 PS and 240 Nm of torque with power being sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. The fuel efficiency is currently rated at an ARAI certified 17.1 km/l, which could see a marginal improvement. The compact SUV will continue to be offered in the 5-seater configuration with two jump seats at the back. With Mahindra lining up to launch its two new compact SUVs (S101/S102 and U301); the automaker could bring in the updated Quanto in the second half of this year.
