From spirituality to adventure tourism, this land has it all. It’s not just about hospitality, but authenticity. The calm of the backwaters, beaches lashed by the waves, trekking, camping, rock-climbing, bird-watching and a host of other leisure activity is what this God’s own country boasts of.

The Department of Tourism in Kerala has announced several ‘Value of Money’, off-season packages targeted at people from the metros and other cities, including the City of Pearls. The marketing initiatives like ‘Great Backwaters’ campaign and ‘Home of Ayurveda’ campaign apart, it is now promoting the State as an ‘all-season’ destination through what was titled ‘Dream Season’.

At a road show here on Tuesday, the department’s spokesperson P. Muraleedharan said that with constant innovations, Kerala Tourism has bagged several national and international awards, including the ITB Berlin-Golden City Gate Award, Best Family and Best Value for Money Destination and the National Tourism Award for the Best Rural Tourism Project, showcasing Kumarakom. Asked about the much-talked-about Seaplane Project, he said it would be up and running by this November, initially in the priority circuit comprising Trivandrum, Cochin and Calicut airports with places like Astamudi, Punnamada, Kumarakm, Bolgatty and Bekal in the State. The hop-on, hop-off boat service started earlier in 2014 was much-favoured, he said.
