Expedite filing of charge sheets: IG

Inspector General of Police (IG), West Zone, K. Shankar, has asked senior police officials to expedite filing of charge sheets in cases related to sexual abuse against women and children so that the accused are convicted without any delay.

Chairing a meeting at the office of Superintendent of Police here on Tuesday, he said that justice should be rendered to the victim’s family at the earliest and hence wanted process in each stage to be expedited. The meeting was attended by Deputy Inspector General, Salem Range Vidya Kulkarni, Superintendents of Police R. Sakthivel (Salem), S.R. Senthil Kumar (Namakkal), J. Loganathan (Dharmapuri) and P. Kannammal (Krishnagiri).

Sources said that the number of cases related to murder, robbery, burglary and other crime were discussed and measures to prevent it were also discussed during the meeting. Also, the IG wanted patrolling along the National Highways in the four districts to be intensified so as to prevent accidents or act quickly in case of accidents.
