Literature boosts human intellect and ignoring it will make human progress questionable, Kadapa District Educational Officer B. Pratap Reddy said on Tuesday.

The DEO presented a memento to Central Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar recipient and writer Vempalli Gangadhar, who spent a fortnight in Rashtrapati Bhavan as President Pranab Mukherjee’s guest in “in-residence” programme. He lauded Dr. Gangadhar, a teacher, for making a mark in literature and said it was an honour for teachers.

Regional Inspector of Physical Education Bhanumurthy Raju, headmaster Venkatarami Reddy and DEO office staff participated.
