CHANDRAPUR: The assistant commissioner of
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) here was caught red-handed by the sleuths from
Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe of Rs.1,000 on Tuesday.
Official sources claimed that the complainant is a grocery shop owner at Mul in the district. The FDA license for his shop had expired in the month of May, 2014. He visited the FDA office in Chandrapur for renewal of his license on January 7, 2015 and applied for its renewal for next three years and had deposited the mandatory administrative fees amounting to Rs 6,000 with FDA office.
But, the accused Assistant Commissioner,
Gulab Gore allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 bribe to issue the renewal certificate to the complainant. The complainant negotiated the sum and Gore agreed to accept bribe of Rs 3000. He paid Rs 2000 to the accused on the spot. The officer insisted for the remaining amount of Rs 1000, without which he would not issue the renewal certificate.
The shop owner then lodged a complaint against Gulab Gore with ACB, who, in turn laid a trap and caught Gore red-handed accepting the money in his office on Tuesday. Inspector, ACB,
Vitthal Achewar and Ajay Bhusari led the raid. An offence was registered against Gore with
Ramanagar police station.
