Lucknow, January 20

UP Lokayukta Justice NK Mehrotra has issued a notice to state mining minister Gayatri Prajapati in a disproportionate assets case asking him to reply by January 27.

If the minister does not respond to the notice, the case will start against him.

Earlier, the Lokayukta had served notices on Prajapati’s family members, including his wife and two sons, two drivers and a friend, but they did not accept it. They are reportedly engaged in various companies run by the minister.

The minister has been asked to explain how such properties have been acquired in the name of his sons. He has been asked to furnish information on sources of money invested in the properties and tax details of the earnings of his family members.

Meanwhile, Justice Mehrotra has reportedly started collecting evidence about irregular allotment of mining tenders in districts. — TNS
