BBAU fee for PG courses almost doubled
LUCKNOW: Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) is hiking fee for its postgraduate and PhD courses almost twice over. The fee revision committee constituted by vice-chancellor R C Sobti has given recommendations to increase fee for 22 regular PG courses and other PhD courses of the university. The matter will now be placed before the academic council meeting likely to be held around January-end.
University spokesperson Kamal Jaiswal said, “There has been no revision in fee since 1997.
In 17 years, costs have gone up. With additional money, we intend to give more facilities to students like a wi-fi campus, hi-tech library and better hostel facilities.’’
The fee for regular courses at BBAU, for regular PG courses, not revised since 1997, is Rs 2,000. Fee revision started from last year and while fee for self-finance courses was slashed to 60% due to shortage of students, for regular courses fee was left untouched after departments raised objection to hike in regular courses. This year, however, the committee has decided to double the fees for students who would take admission in academic session 2015-16.
Online admission process for admissions to various courses at BBAU will begin from February 7. There are 40 seats in each regular PG course and decision would affect around 1,500 students.
