SURAT: Comedy Star RajuSrivastava, who is the brand ambassador for the SwachBharatAbhiyan had to face ire from the residents at AdarshVasahat located in the posh Athwalines area during the cleanliness drive campaign on Monday.
Srivastava who visited the diamond city for the Swachta Abhiyan was taken to the spot that was already cleaned, inviting displeasure from the residents in the Adarsh Vasahat.
The residents complained about the overflowing drainage line and the problems faced by the families residing in the colony from the past five years.
The residents stated that they have submitted written complaints in the Athwa zone office on number of occasions to check and stop the overflowing drainage, which is spreading foul smell and has become the breeding ground for mosquitoes and other deadly insects. But, the pleas have fallen on deaf ears and that the problems is still unresolved from the past five years.
The women residents of the area approached the BJP leaders including the president of BJP city unit, Purnesh Modi to help solve their problems in the presence of Raju Srivastava.
"Our colony is always neat and clean. We face the drainage overflow problem from the past five years. Nobody in the municipal corporation or even the elected representative is bothered to solve the problem" said a resident.
