No evidence that Gurunath Meiyappan fixed games: Mumbai police

The complaint named BCCI functionaries including N Srinivasan, his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan who was associated with CSK, and others. Meiyappan was arrested by the Mumbai police in a separate betting-related case and later got bail.

The Mumbai police report said that Meiyappan, being the team principal of CSK was involved in betting during IPL 6 along with an accused bookie, Virendar Randhava.

The police claimed that Meiyappan was merely the principal of the cricket group and had been given a blue pass for team management. “No evidence to establish that he was the owner of CSK. It is owned by a cement firm and there is no direct involvement of Meiyappan with the company,” the report submitted. .
