Adopting a fashion forward way to support our rich Indian heritage on the Republic Day week, Alka Nishar, Aza, showcases her latest collection of Indian handlooms and weaves.
With the Republic Day coming up, the traditional Indian weaves and handlooms are flying off shelves. Aza is showcasing its latest collection, 'Indian Handloom & Weaves', to commemorate Republic Day, Jan 26, this month, by showcasing work of designers who use Indian fabrics and weaves such as silks, cottons and khadis.
The creations are handcrafted by skilled artisans belonging to different parts of the country. The very traditional collection juxtaposes various patterns, motifs and techniques of embroidery and fabrics such as jamawar, chanderi, jamdani, khadi, silk and cottons with a contemporary twist. Shades of natural colours such as beige, ivory, grey, off white with hints of pink, gold and other natural dyes have been used. Some of the labels include Pero by Aneeth Arora, Rouka by Sreejith Jeevan, Marg by Soumitra Mondal, Akaro by Gaurav Jai Gupta, and Divya Sheth.
“It is a fashion forward way to support our rich Indian heritage and talented local craftsmen, these designers have fused traditional textiles and techniques with contemporary drapes and cuts” says Dr. Alka Nishar, founder of AZA.
