Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty will inaugurate the Business Incubation Centre (BIC), an entrepreneurial initiative of the Kannur University, here on January 19.
A press release here on Sunday said that the BIC was being started with the objective of promoting start-ups in the areas of manufacturing, handloom, fashion designing, handicraft, agro-business, food technology, Information Technology and other allied service-oriented businesses. The Minister would inaugurate the BIC at 11 a.m. at the Chamber Hall here at 11 a.m. It would have an incubation room and an open space with 10 Mbps Wi-Fi internet connectivity, video conferencing, and business consultancy, the release said.
The BIC would have facilities for members on regular, virtual, and student registrations. Virtual registration members could access the facilities on weekends and holidays whereas regular registration members could have round-the-clock access. Student registration members would be treated as virtual and the fees would be nominal, the release added.
It also said a memorandum of understanding would be exchanged between the Startup Village, Kochi, and the Kannur University.
Rediff.com founder Ajit Balakrishan has taken over the charge as the chief mentor of the BIC.
