Youth from 14 districts and Karaikal region of Union Territory of Pondichery converged at the District Sports Stadium here on Sunday to take part in the army recruitment rally which began at 5 a.m.
Candidates from Perambalur, Ariyalur, Tiruchi, Karur, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Pudukottai, Sivagangai, Tiruvarur, Ramanathapuram, Virudunagar, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, and Union territory of Karaikal attended the rally. With eagerness writ large on their faces, they queued up for certificate verification. Recruitment on Sunday was for Sepoy technical, Nursing Assistant and Nursing Assistant (veterinary).
Applications were given to 2,181 youth. Education, birth and residential certificates were verified. Education and Revenue Department officials who have come from other districts verified the certificates. Darez Ahamed, Perambalur Collector, inspected the verification process. Fitness test will be conducted on on Monday. The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the rally.
