‘NTR fought for cause of Telugus’

Telugu Desam Party leaders and cadres organised various programmes, including distribution of clothes to the needy and other service activities, marking the 19th death anniversary of their party founder and former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao here on Sunday.

The TDP organised meetings at the NTR circle, Patamata, where the statue of NTR was garlanded by several leaders, party district office on Bandar Road, Kesineni Bhavan and various other places. Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) and others distributed sarees to women and fruit to aged in various divisions in the city.

The rank and file of the TDP paid tributes to Mr. Rama Rao. The leaders recalled the memorable services rendered by NTR to for cause of the people of Andhra Pradesh. They said that it was because of NTR that the State, which was not known even in the other parts of the country, had got special recognition in the global arena.

NTR had touched the hearts of poor and the middle class people through his various developmental schemes and committed governance. He remained in the hearts of people.

They did not forget Rs. 2-a-kg rice scheme introduced by Mr. Rama Rao even after decades, the speakers said.

TDP Krishna district convener Bachula Arjunudu urban convener Buddha Venkanna, general secretary Songa Ravindra Varma, urban official spokesperson Yerneni Vedavyas, district vice president Koneru Ankinedu Chowdary, Telugu Yuvatha office secretary Kotha Nagendra Kumar, Urban TNTUC president Boyina Subrahmanyam and others were present.

Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, while participating in a 24-km walk from Ibrahimpatnam to Mylavaram, said each individual should take active part in the Government’s missionary zeal to transform the State into ‘Swarnandhra Pradesh’ by grooming every village and ward.

Speaking after releasing a brochure on smart village-smart ward at a kalyana mandapam in Ibrahimpatnam, Mr. Umamaheswara Rao said people should feel responsible towards their villages and wards.
