Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has alleged that the issue of denotification of land acquired for Arkavathy Layout in Bengaluru may spell trouble for the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa if the issue is thoroughly probed.

Mr. Siddaramaiah, who was in Mysuru to pay his last respects to his mentorformer legislator P.M. Chikkaboraiah on Saturday, told presspersons, “About 610 acres of land for Arkavathy Layout was denotified without any advice during the tenure of Mr. Yeddyurappa. This is not my opinion, but it has been mentioned in the Lokayukta report. Mr. Yeddyurappa may get into trouble if the Arkavathy denotification case is properly investigated.”

The Chief Minister claimed that his government had not denotified a single gunta of land in the State after it came to power.

“The lands were illegally denotified during the tenures of the former Chief Ministers H.D. Kumaraswamy, B.S. Yeddyurappa, and D.V. Sadananda Gowda,” he alleged.

Mr. Siddaramaiah said the Bharatiya Janata Party was trying to get political mileage by raising the denotification issue.

“Governor Vajubhai Vala should act under the provisions of the Constitution. I am hopeful that he [the Governor] will do so.”

Meanwhile, the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, who was also in Mysuru to pay his respects to Mr. Chikkaboraiah, said that that his party was not silent on the Arkavathy Layout denotification issue. “I will speak on this issue at an appropriate time. I’ll furnish all the details,” he said.
