Despite repeated appeals, GHMC remains indifferent

The roads at Jeevan Kalyan colony, located opposite Andhra Bank-Reliance stretch on the Mehdipatnam-Gudi Malkapur road, are in a state of disrepair. The colony residents have on several occasions, quite unsuccessfully, failed to bring the condition of the bad roads to the notice of the GHMC authorities.

What’s worse is that the GHMC, quite wrongfully, put up a sign-board before the colony compound wall displaying the incorrect name of the colony. Although this matter too was brought to the notice of GHMC officials, no action has been taken.

Mettuguda residents on tenterhooks

Flat-owners of the four apartments along the Mettuguda Church and Hotel Skylab are anxious about their future. There is no clarity on whether they will lose their homes if HMR decides to widen the road for the proposed Hyderabad Metro Rail. The residents feel there is no need to widen the road. It is also estimated that the number of vehicles along the stretch could come down when the Metro rail starts operating. If these apartments are to be demolished, then authorities should at least give two years time to residents to make alternative arrangements.
