A police sub-inspector was shot at by two miscreants riding a two-wheeler in Farrukhabad district on Saturday evening. The SI is battling for life in the district hospital.
According to reports, three motorcycle-borne youths allegedly shot at Baghar police out-post in-charge KC Dwivedi in broad daylight. The incident occurred near Major SD Singh Medical College on the state highway late on Saturday evening when Dwivedi along with head constable Shyam Sunder was checking vehicles.

Though exact cause of the attack could not be ascertained, the trio then sped away towards Mohammadabad.
“When head-constable Shyam Sunder signaled the trio to stop, they tried to escape. The head constable alerted SI Dwivedi, who rushed to the spot and a scuffle ensued. One of the youth took out a firearm and fired at Dwivedi leaving him critically injured.
He was rushed to district hospital as police launched a massive hunt to nab the criminals. A senior police official said that preliminary investigations revealed that following a scuffle, assailants shot at the SI.
“We have got certain clues and the shooter will be in police custody shortly,” said SP Vijay Yadav while talking to TOI. A case has been registered against unidentified shooters in this regard, the SP added.
Doctors, attending the injured, said that the patient came to the hospital with gunshot injuries in abdomen. “He has got multiple injuries on his abdomen and is stable,” they added.
This is the second time that policeman has been attacked in the district. A station house officer (SHO) Raj Kumar Singh was shot while trying to apprehend a history-sheeter in Farrukhabad district on Nov 29 2014.
