SHIMLA: The state is going to launch 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign, with focus on Una and Kinnaur districts so that sex ratio could be improved in these district. The state government also planns to hold more workshops in the state to ensure effective implementation of the relevant laws and mobilize people to improve child sex ratio.
While presiding over a meeting of state appropriate authority with state advisory committee, under Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act (PC &PNDT) Rameshwar Sharma, HP director for health safety and regulations informed this in Shimla on Saturday.
He said that effective steps were being taken to monitor the misuse of pre-natal diagnostic techniques and efforts were on to further improve the sex ratio in the state.
He said that so far 259 clinics in private and government sectors were registered in the state. He said that the state-level National Girl Child Day would be celebrated on January 24 and rally and painting competitions would be organized to mark the occasion.
He said that a workshop of chief medical officers of the state would be held next month to sensitize them about the PC &PNDT Act and proper reporting. He said that the inspecting authority in the district should inspect genetic clinics having the facility of ultrasound and sonography time to time besides holding meetings of district consultative committees at regular intervals.
