An Open Letter To Sonakshi Sinha

Congratulations on completing four years in the industry and 12 films, excluding LINGAA, the south film with superstar Rajnikanth. This is your fifth year in Bollywood; DABAANG your debut released on September 10, 2010.
And from DABAANG to TEVAR, you have managed to remain the same—look the same (one solitary expression), act the same, dress the same way, even emote the same way. No change in body language as well. Everything remains intact! To the uninformed person who might see your movies back-to-back it would appear as though you moved from set to set and all movies were shot during the same time!!
One cannot find any difference between the Rajjo Pandey from DABAANG or Radhika from TEVAR or for that matter, even Jasmine or Mitali or Chanda or Diva or Paro or Saiba or Khushi... from your many other films.
Before you say Khamosh, let me go on...
Last week I lauded Varun Dhawan for his performances and for the very fact that in just his fourth film, the yet to be released BADLAPUR, he has moved away from his comfort zone in portraying another character altogether. That is what chutzpah is. Ditto Shraddha Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor; all children with filmy connections. All are getting films after films because of their lineage and are also proving their mettle.
You too, pardon me for saying this, are getting films after films after films for your filmi connections. Or else how do you explain this litany of bland performances? If you are here, remember it was destined for you. But you have to work at your craft an refuse daft work to ensure you are remembered as an actor of caliber, rather than someone who squandered opportunities that came her way easily.
The next time you get an offer to do a film, do read the script and ask pointed questions to the makers. Remember that there are talented actors waiting for breaks even after proving themselves.
Here's my list of actors who have impressed me and are yet to get their due. Neha Sharma, Shri Swara Dubey, Erica Fernandes, Kirti Kulhari, Arunoday Singh, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Surveen Chawla, Ashok Samarth, Prashant Narayanan, Shreya Narayan, Nassar, Arjun Mathur and Shilpa Shukla. There are many more. But these I feel sorry for because of the lack of opportunities. We as an audience want to see actors of quality.
The next time you get a role, deserve it, and also remember the above-mentioned names, who are not so lucky or as connected as you are and what they are losing out on. Thank God for your breaks and work hard at every role, as though it is your last.
You can do it. Remember it took Mr Amitabh Bachchan 13 flops to breakthrough with ZANJEER.
You too can break the chains of mediocrity. I saw that spark in LOOTERA.
