Man killed in accident at prison

Velumayil (60), a plastic utensils vendor of Siddhapudur, was killed in a road accident at the Coimbatore Central Prison on Tuesday night. The Traffic Investigation Wing Police (Central) said that the man was on his way out of the prison premises on his two-wheeler. A 4th battalion jeep that was on its way out of the prison knocked him down.

The police said that a case was registered against Pandiaraj, a prison staff in the rank of a sub inspector, on charges of knocking down the victim while driving the jeep.
